Quick Full Body Exercises!

$

Hi beautiful! Yesterday I filmed a video demonstrating a few of the exercises I do, usually in the night time just before I get into the shower. I spent most of the day editing it today and it's finally done! I hope that you guys enjoy this video. It was really fun to film and put together as it's very different from what I usually do :)

I do anywhere from 5 to 10 to 20 reps of each exercise almost every day to keep my body nice and toned. Even though these exercises are basic, they really work! At the end of the day it's all about moving your body. I usually do these when I'm watching TV (or sometimes even when I'm on the phone).

I really enjoy workouts like Pilates, barre method and yoga as these focus more on strengthening and lengthening the core and deep muscles, so you get a nice long and lean figure. I also love going on the occasional run!

Simple Glowing Skin Juice

Hi my loves! I hope everyone's had a great day! This morning I spent an hour or so catching up on my YouTube subscriptions (feels like I haven't properly watched YouTube in ages!), and I came across a video on this juice recipe for beautiful skin, hair and nails. I have Dan, aka "Life Regenerator", to thank for teaching me so much about juicing and most significantly, about the power of raw fruits & veggies. He's got a ton of great informational videos on his channel, so if you're curious or interested in juicing then definitely check them out! His style of videos are as simple as his diet, "raw"! As in, he does not do a lot of editing, but if you stick with them you can really learn a lot, he is a genius!

Made this juice today! Super simple, yet so amazing. Thanks Dan for the inspiration :)

Benefits of cucumber & celery juice for beauty!

Click here for Life Regenerator's channel

What does it taste like?
This juice in particular tastes very faint and light, almost like water. After the first few sips you get used to it and it's really easy to drink. You could add apples to make it sweeter :)

Should I specifically buy "organic" produce?
If you are able to, try to buy as much organic as possible. They spray tons of pesticides, preservatives and chemicals on food these days - and who ends up eating them? We do. Organic, non sprayed, is the way to go!

How often do you juice?
I have juice everyday! I love it :) I have a juicer at home, but there's also a place around the corner from my apartment where they make fresh organic juice - so I usually get mine from there. If you don't want to juice everyday, then make a large batch, and add lots of lemons and you'll be able to keep it for up to 3 days (lemon acts as a natural preservative).

As we're on this juicing topic, below is the recipe I normally have daily:
- apples
- cucumber
- celery
- lemon
- ginger
- blended with kale & spinach (blending allows you to keep the whole leaf, thus getting more of it's nutrients)

I hope you guys found this post useful and interesting! Dan always fuels my excitement and appreciation of raw food and the benefits it has for your health and beauty. Maybe he'll inspire you too! XOXO

New Candles

It's hard for me to not stop and smell the candles whenever I'm out shopping... I will smell them all! :) I love the way they make your room smell and how they linger around, long after you've blown them out. They also add an extra little comfy and romantic touch to a space. Yesterday I walked past Bath & Body Works and found "Tiki Beach" and "Honeysuckle" which both smell heavenly! Their scents are so good, yet they are still light and delicate.

Tiki Beach reminds me of a beautiful day in a warm exotic location. The official description is "A scent as warm as the sun! A luxurious blend of toasted coconut, vanilla musk and orchids brings the glamour of a resort-stay to you."

Honeysuckle smells so fresh yet warm and soothing. It reminds me of a calming warm bubble bath lol I guess all of our descriptions of scents depend on our own experiences :) The official description is "An alluring blend of sweet honeysuckle, pink peony and a touch of creamy vanilla capture the essence of walking through a garden in bloom."

If you guys are ever in Bath & Body Works, definitely check out these candles. For those of you wanting to know the price, I got two for $22 and they usually last me a month or so. Do you guys have a favorite candle brand, or scent? Let me know in the comments below! XOXO

Hi beautiful! Happy Friday :) I hope everyone's had a good week! Taking it easy tonight and staying in to edit a video I filmed this morning. This video is all about big bold lashes and showing you step by step how I apply my mascara for maximum fulness. I'm also going to try to film a video tomorrow about... stretch marks! I've gotten so many questions about this topic so I thought I'd do a whole video about it.

But for right now, I want to show you my new soft pink manicure. If you're familiar with my channel, you'll know I'm obsessed with clean well-manicured nails. I discovered Shellac a few months ago and I haven't turned back to regular polish since. The lasting power and the shine of this makes it a beauty miracle. A few weeks ago I wrote a full review (along with pro's & con's) of the Shellac manicure. Click here to read the post!

I am usually rocking a shiny deep red manicure, but felt like switching it up,
so I went for this light soft pink shade. I'm loving it for the spring!

Hey guys! Hope everyone had a good long Memorial Day weekend, and to all my international readers, hope you had a fabulous weekend too! As you may know, my cousin Skeena and I, are very close (watch our Q&A here) and everyday we send each other images over Whatsapp of things we find inspirational, beautiful and funny. We get these images from Tumblr - which I am addicted to and will scroll through my homepage multiple times a day :) But for some reason, instead of re-blogging to my own account, I just save the images I like onto my phone and send them to Skeena. I like going through them and they just inspire me. So I thought I'd start sharing some of my favorite images of the week with you guys here on my blog, so you can see the type of stuff we send each other and be part of our little inspirational photo sesh! This is my kind of eye candy ♥

This one is a talk-through video on the techniques I use when applying my mascara to make them look as big and full as possible :) Been wanting to show you these techniques for a while now so I'm happy I finally got this one filmed. See you guys in the video soon ♥

Good morning loves! I have a new video up for you :) This one is a step by step on the techniques I use when applying my mascara to make my lashes look big and bold. I also talk about how I take care of my lashes. Although I've experimented with false eyelashes, I am not a huge fan of how they feel on my eye, and prefer applying a few layers of mascara instead. I haven't done a "talk-through" tutorial in a long time! What do you guys think of this style of video? Or do you prefer voice-over? Let me know in the comments! (My lipstick is "Sao Paulo" lip creme by NYX) Hope you enjoy the video and find it helpful!

Techniques summarized:
1. Start with mascara wand right in the base
2. "Zig zag" left to right
3. Turn wand upright, vertically then press into lashes
4. Fan out lashes
5. Turn wand outward as you're moving up lash

 Some before & afters!

Products mentioned!

Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Sephora Brow Comb

I've experimented with so many mascaras, this one is my fav! ♥

Stretch Marks?!

Hi my lovelies! I hope you've all been doing well. Been editing a video I filmed a few days ago, but it just didn’t come out the way I would’ve liked (the perfectionist in me is biting my butt about it) so I thought I’d summarize it, and make a post for you instead!

The topic at hand today is stretch marks! Although I don't see it as anything to stress about, I have been asked about this quite a lot, and if it's a concern to you, then I want to share my experience and give you some advice! I believe I get asked about this a lot because, as you may know, I used to be overweight in my early teens. With weight gain and weight loss come… yep, stretch marks! And I got a few little stretch mark “souvenirs” with me, so you’re not the only one! :)

In fact
• 75 to 90% of pregnant women develop stretch marks
• 70% of adolescent females develop stretch marks
• 40% of adolescent males also develop stretch marks

So they are very common! Are there any ways to prevent them from happening? Yes! But first let’s look at why they occur in the first place.

What are they? How do they happen?Stretch marks are actually a form of scarring. Whenever there is rapid and sudden growth of body size, the underlying tissue grows faster than the skin layers that cover it. This causes small tears in the epidermal surface. As a result of the tension put on the skin, the epidermal layer ruptures and the scars which result cause stretch marks. (Excerpt from:http://www.gracechem.com) So basically, when the skin can’t keep up with the growing tissue underneath, it “breaks” - and that’s what stretch marks are.

How can I prevent stretch marks from occurring?

  1. Keep your skin moisturized (I like natural moisturizers the best, like coconut or argon oil, cocoa butter also works great)
  2. Exfoliate to stimulate blood flow and collagen production
  3. Drink lots of water and reduce caffeine intake to keep skin healthy & flexible
  4. Make sure to eat skin-healthy foods such as
  • seafood & nuts (high in zinc & fatty acids)
  • citrus fruits (great for collagen production thus boosting skin elasticity)
  • colorful vegetables for vit. A (ex. spinach, carrots, sweet potatoes)
Screen shot from the video of me showing how I use my body brush.
I basically go in circular motions over any areas that could be affected.

Body brushing & exfoliating your skin in the shower using a brush like this will help prevent stretch
marks and cellulite by boosting circulation & collagen production

Can you get rid of them?
Although there are many creams claiming to diminish stretch marks, the only method that will really help to soften the look of deeply-set stretch marks, are laser treatments. The key here is definitely prevention! :) Body makeup is another option. Even though it's not permanent, it can help to make you feel better about them temporarily for a special occasion. Sally Hansen spray on legs works great! MUFE Face & Body Foundation is waterproof, so it’s ideal if you’re going to a pool or beach party without worrying about getting your skin wet.

This spray works great at covering up imperfections on the legs and will also
help with diminishing the appearance of stretch marks, plus it's waterproof!

Conclusion
Stretch marks are unfortunately permanent marks (or “scars”) inside the body, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of! If your stretch marks make you feel really bad however, then consider doing a few sessions of laser treatments to soften their appearance. Always keep your skin nice and moisturized and eat a good diet to help prevent future marks from appearing. If anyone has ever made a negative remark to you regarding your stretch marks, just brush it off - if it's a significant other, like a boyfriend, then he's not even worth your time, a real man won't care about little imperfections like that. Also know that no one is perfect! Celebrities usually have their imperfections photoshoped away, so try not to compare yourself to anyone. You are amazing just the way you are!

Benefits of Running

Although us beauty lovers would most likely prefer running towards a sale at Sephora, going on the occasional jog outside is so beneficial to your overall health and well being! Working out improves the "beauty of your body" - which is just as important as the beauty of your face. Below are a few quick pictures from my iPhone from when I went for a run a few days ago with my boyfriend. It had been raining all day but cleared up late afternoon, just in time for sunset so the view by the water was gorgeous. I usually go for about an hour and alternate between jogging and walking. I try to run my first stretch for about 30 minutes - that's usually my goal (ps. good to keep goals!). One of my favorite reasons to run is because it totally clears my mind and I always look forward to listening to my music, plus it makes me feel really good for the next couple of days.

We stopped to do some toning exercises (like the ones from my workout video
as well as some stretches to cool down at the end

In case you need a little extra motivation to get up and go for a run, let's look at some of the health benefits:
  1. It's a high calorie-burning exercise
  2. Good for overall mental health (your body releases chemicals which make you feel happy) therefore decreases stress, anxiety etc
  3. No expensive equipment required
  4. Helps strengthen heart and lungs
  5. Great for your immune system
  6. It increases self-awareness, boosts confidence and self-esteem
  7. Gives you energy
  8. It revs up metabolism (even when you're not running)
  9. Gives you opportunity to be outside and enjoy nature
  10. It boosts creativity & helps you think clearly

Something important for keeping a healthy & fit body is consistency, so even if you can't gather up enough energy for a run, go for a walk instead - just remember to move your body everyday. I also love doing yoga classes and Pilates - so good for your body! Do you guys like to go for runs? What's your favorite type of exercise? XOXO

    Soft Matte Lips

Hi my lovelies! Just wrapped up filming on a new health video :) Love doing those in particular because I know you guys enjoy them :) It should be up in a couple of days! This morning when doing my makeup, I went for this beautiful pink lip color from NYX. It is their Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade San Paulo ($5.99 at Ulta). These have been out for a while now, so nothing new, but they are very unique in their texture. Just as described on their website, they're not a lipstick nor a lip gloss - but somewhere in between. It applies wet, with a traditional doe-foot applicator, and then sets a few seconds later to a very soft and matte finish which lasts for hours. Another color I love is Amsterdam which is a gorgeous vibrant red as well as Antwerp - a beautiful coral pinky color.

I personally love a matte lip (and they tend to last longer as well) and I find this color so gorgeous! If your lips are naturally dry, just make sure your exfoliate and moisturize them before applying any matte lipstick. Have you guys experimented with these lip cremes? What do you think of this color? XOXO

Hey guys! Reading some of your responses under the video I just posted - happy you found it helpful. Of course, having some unhealthy things now and then is not bad, but making these switches overall can help you keep a healthy body - along with good exercise routine as well :)

A reason I think I don't do health-related videos more often, is because they seem to be somewhat 'controversial' - which is a bummer! Even though I get lots of people saying it inspired or helped them, there are also those people who always try to point out the nitty gritty details and forget the main point I'm making about living clean and healthy. It bugs me out! Lol but I guess we'll always have people like that, but I hope those of you who follow and know me, understand the message I'm making and that it comes from a 100% good place :) I've been on the other end of feeling totally crappy about myself, and I've come such a long way to now where I eat well, exercise and am so proud of my healthy body. It's a feeling I hope everyone can reach! - no matter what shape or size you are - as long as you're healthy and happy! I am so passionate about clean living and even though I'm not a professional, I've done a lot of research into food and I share some of those findings with you through these videos. I'd like for them to be little "ignitions" and/or inspirations for you to start doing your own research, because there's so much to know :) Being curious is so important! But anyway I will keep making them of course because I want to help where I can.

On another note, I want to show you a better view of the top I was wearing in the video. It's this gorgeous floral printed cotton blouse, which I got at Zara last week (click here). It has a pretty ruffle detail on the shoulders and the floral print is nice and summery. I paired it with my chunky gold necklace from H&M! :)

Hi everyone, happy Tuesday! First, I want to say thank you for all the positive comments under my last post - I LOVE you guys ♥ You are a big part of my very special world and you guys inspire me everyday. Thank you for your unconditional support.
I want to share a collection of pictures I took last week on my Instagram. It has definitely become my favorite social media app - a picture says a 1000 words right :) I get a few questions on which filters I like to use and/or if I use any external apps for my Instagram. I use "Picfx" for the little light bubbles I occasionally add to photos, and "InstaCollageFree" to make little collages. As for my favorite filters, it really depends on the picture! But I tend to go for Amaro, Hudson, Walden & Nashville the most.

      1. Found this 'oldie but goodie' picture of me wearing white nail polish last year - yay or nay?
      2. This was so good! Yummy berries (and 2 hard-boiled eggs) for breakfast!

      1. Yoga time!
      2. Something I love about NYC! Fresh flowers on almost every street corner (most for under $10!)

      1. Wore super minimal makeup Friday - just some matte Bobbi Brown gel liner & mascara - plus a nice filter helps hehe :)
      2. Dinner at my friend, Saskia's apartment! How cute are her plates?

      1. Saw these gorgeous flowers whilst out on a walk - how pretty!
      2. My nail polish matched my favorite snack :) "Wildfire" by Shellac
      1. Made these banana pancakes yesterday for breakfast! (1 banana + 2 eggs + cinnamon)
      2. Picture of some of the food mentioned in my latest video - love the colors

These aren't from last week - but I love the pictures :)

      1. Recently bought this fitted striped dress from Anthropology
      2. Enjoyed a mint & ginger lemonade at one of my favorite breakfast palces

      1. Selfie in front of this pretty mirror :)
      2. Gorgeous suburbs of New Jersey! Was out on a power walk

       1. Bought myself some pretty roses at WholeFoods whilst grocery shopping :)

Good morning beautiful! Woke up all excited this morning - remember the show I hosted a few weeks ago about deserving students getting a prom makeover? Well the first episode is here! It was so much fun working with these lovely ladies and getting them all glammed up for their prom. We drove about an hour into Queens to Rockaway Highschool and the event took place in their newly renovated gym (it had been submerged in almost 5 ft of water from the storm!). The girls were amazing and I can't wait for you to see the next few episodes. For now, here is the first one!

Editing my next video for you guys and this one is a ROOM TOUR :) It will be short & sweet. The photo below is part of my leaning bookcase where I keep my perfumes and some of my jewelry. Do you see the pink little bottle in the back, next to the frame? It's called "The Body Mist" by Victoria's Secret and smells amazing! It's what I have on now. It is a staple for me - that must be my third bottle. Do you have a favorite scent from VS?

I'm just about to call it a night, but wanted to share a new song I've been loving called Treasure by Bruno Mars - he is just too cute. I'm not sure if it's a brand new song, but I'm hooked! It's such a catchy little tune and just makes you want to dance :) I love the old-school feel of it. His whole new album, Unorthodox Jukebox, is actually really good - some of my other favorite songs from it are Gorilla, When I Was Your Man (of course!), Show Me and Young Girls.

What's your current favorite song? Love finding new good music so let me know in the comments below! My Room Tour video should hopefully be up by tomorrow :) Hope everyone is having a great night! ♥

Hi my loves! I'm really excited to share this next video, plus some photos, with you of the main room in my apartment where I spend most of my time. I live in a very old building in Manhattan (I believe it's over 80 years old!) and it's never been renovated *insert shocked emoticon face*. Yep! When I was apartment hunting, I wanted something with a lot of "character" - which I definitely got! Next time however, I'm going for a super modern place :) Anyway, I am obsessed with my apartment and I'm excited to share some decorating tips with you below under the photographs. Hope you enjoy!

I love having all my perfumes displayed nicely together - the bottles are too pretty to keep them
anywhere else! The framed picture on the right is of my friend Emily and I :)
I find mirrored frames so chic and elegant.

I like to sort through my jewelry every 6 months or so and give away things I
don't wear so my collection is clean and simple - less is definitely more!

These are a life saver when it comes to organizing bracelets!
It looks very "boutique" like which I love :)

This bookcase is one of my favorite parts of the room - it's just so pretty to look at! Bookcases
are great because you can really show off your personality and style by decorating each shelf
as you choose. I change this up from time to time! Sometimes if I buy a new pair of amazing shoes,
they will go up there on display so I can see them all the time :)

White Leaning Bookcase - Crate & Barrel
      Mirrored Frame - Home Goods
Bracelet & Watch Display - Container Store
Small Gold Frames - Bed Bath & Beyond
Hand-painted Red Ballerina (not seen, on top shelf) - Gifted

This is my "inspiration" rack which I love :) I keep clothes on here that I want to wear
and/or that I've recently purchased. Gives a nice girly touch to the space - and clothes
are so pretty - why not keep some on display? :)

This bed is so comfy! I used to have a beige/champagne colored bed-cover on top, but
have been enjoying the simple white duvet cover recently. I have a big window right
next to the bed so it isn't hard for me waking up - the sun gets me :)

I wanted a really comfy yet chic look to my bed - so I got these super soft faux fur pillows
along with this beautiful embroidered decorative pillow - all within the same color palette.
I think having fun pillows on your bed adds character to the space.

I was obsessed with this mirror when I saw it - the detailing is so gorgeous!
I love WHITE, so I placed this beautiful faux white orchid next to my bed to tie in with the mirror.

Keep water around so you remember to hydrate!
The first book is "The Prophet" by Khalil Gibran - a must have book with beautiful poems!
And below is one of Chelsea Handler's books.
The funniest one in my opinion is "My Horizontal Life" :)

I like keeping photos of loved ones around my apartment, along with candles
as it creates a nice "homey" feeling.  I'm also in love with mirrored furniture.
Here you see my first piece out of this collection. They have a similar collection at Pier 1 Imports!

Bed - Crate & Barrel "Colette Queen Bed"
Faux Fur Pillows - Pottery Barn
Decorative Middle Pillow - Pier 1 Imports
White Floral Framed Mirror - Pearl River Mart
White Faux Orchid - Pier 1 Imports
Borghese Mirrored Side Chest - Z Gallerie
Candle - Tiki Beach, Bath & Body Works

I love the silver studs on this sofa (same detailing as on the bed).

I added these beige and white decorative pillows to the sofa to compliment the colors of the bed.
I think the colors of the pillow bring out the studded rim of the sofa - love!

Did you guys know I love flowers? Lol :) Something that's great about New York is that all
the corner deli's have flowers (plus they're super affordable here!) I like buying fresh ones for this
center table, and then stick to faux ones for the rest of the space.

      Sofa - "Pauline" Z Gallerie
Decorative Pillows - Bed Bath & Beyond
Coffee Table / Bench - Pearl River Mart
Decorative Middle Piece - Pier 1 Imports
Candle - Honeysuckle, Bath & Body Works

It's all in the details :)

Mirrored furniture (and mirrors in general) is great for opening up small spaces - this one
in particular is great because it has so much storage space. I have my TV on top :)

I decorated the top of this mirror by adding a few flowers, which are actually for your hair
and a pretty headband. Without sounding vain lol I think it's great to keep nice pictures
of yourself in your space - you know, from a time where you looked fab.
Helps to keep the inspiration going :)

I love clean, simple and organized! Makes it super easy to find what I'm looking for,
and again, it adds that "boutique" like feeling. I love my sunnies!

A view of my desk and makeup area, where I spend a lot of time. It's right in front of
a window so I get great lighting and a beautiful view :)

I love this quote "She believed she could, so she did" - that's straight forward thinking at it's best :)
